Market Research - October 2003

Previous Month Next Month

1st 8th 15th 22nd 29th

Monthly Summary

  • Money is still sloshing around - Aruba raised $20 million in no time flat
  • Versant and Poet merge - with Versant on top - to carry the object database flag
  • Actional starts a trend by getting out of the adapter market, while CrossAccess sells out to IBM; meanwhile there is more consolidation (EMC eats Documentum, webMethods swallows TheMindElectric
  • Siebel returns to the hosted CRM markeyt
  • e-commerce and tech spending looks set for more growth according to IDC and Gartner - but actual results vary wildly (and widely) between climbers (Ascential spectacularly, and ILOG more modestly) and fallers (Iona , Persistence, Attunity) with others (Informatica, Vitria) left hovering hopefully.
